About Us

CaptainCalc started with a frustration most people quietly share: nearly every nutrition tool online seems to assume you already know your macros, own a food scale, and train five days a week. For the majority of us — people who simply want to lose a bit of weight, drink more water, and stop feeling guilty about dessert — those tools feel like walking into an advanced class you never signed up for. We wanted a calmer corner of the internet where the numbers are accurate, the language is plain, and nobody is trying to sell you a program.

So we built exactly that. This site focuses on everyday nutrition and sensible weight loss for regular adults, not athletes and not competitors. The calculators here — daily calories, water intake, added sugar, fiber, meal portions, healthy weight ranges — are the ones an ordinary person actually reaches for when they decide to eat a little better. Each one is designed to give you a result you can use before lunch, with an explanation you would not need a degree to follow.

I am the editor who writes and reviews the guidance across CaptainCalc. My background is in consumer health writing, and my job is to keep every explanation honest, gentle, and free of the crash-diet nonsense that clutters this space. I read the research so you do not have to, and I try hard to write the way a sensible friend would talk — encouraging when you need it, straight with you when a shortcut is not worth taking. If a tool cannot give you a trustworthy answer, we would rather say so than dress up a guess.

We are not doctors, and nothing here replaces personal medical advice — but within those limits, we are genuinely obsessed with getting the everyday numbers right. If you spot a mistake, have a question, or want a calculator we do not offer yet, I would love to hear from you at [email protected]. Real messages from real readers shape what we build next.
